Elawan Energy Surpasses 1 GW of Operational Renewable Capacity in Spain

Elawan Energy S.L. (“Elawan”), part of the ORIX group, has announced the commissioning of a new solar plant in Brazatortas, Castilla-La Mancha, thus achieving the milestone of 1 GW of operational renewable capacity in Spain with projects fully developed and managed by the company.

This achievement solidifies Elawan Energy’s position as a key player in the energy transition and sustainable development. The company had previously reached this target in November 2024 with the acquisition of Acciona Saltos de Agua (ASA), adding 23 small hydroelectric plants with a combined capacity of 175 MW, primarily in northern Spain. The addition of the Brazatortas plant, with an installed capacity of 50 MW, strengthens Elawan’s position by reaching this goal solely with its own projects.

In the wind energy sector, Elawan Energy operates 208 MW through flagship projects in Castilla-La Mancha and Castilla y León. In the photovoltaic sector, the company leads with over 20 projects distributed across Castilla-La Mancha, including five in the province of Albacete, eight in Cuenca, two in Toledo, and two in Ciudad Real, collectively exceeding 810 MW of installed capacity.

“This 1 GW milestone, achieved through our own projects, underscores not only our commitment to the energy transition but also our technical and strategic ability to lead the shift towards a cleaner and more sustainable energy model,” stated Pedro García Crespo, Chief Investment Officer of Elawan Energy.
